About the business

The Powderhorn Chateau has two onsite restaurants and bars including the iconic Powderkeg which hosts an abundance of parties and events. 

We are based right at the base of the Tongariro National Heritage Park and we are also the closest accommodation bar and restaurant to the Turoa ski field. With a range of activities to do both summer and winter why would you need to be anywhere else?

About the role

Do you love adventure sports and nature? Keen to ride all day and work the night? Do you love interacting with staff and customers? Do we have the job for you!

The Duty Manager will strengthen our management team and help train and develop our staff further to ensure that our high standards are maintained and where possible improved. 

    If you have all the above attributes we would love to hear from you to explore the opportunities available.

    You will need to have proven experience be legally allowed to work in New Zealand and be highly motivated and passionate about what you do. Due to the nature of our business and the strong team we already have in place it is imperative that all applicants have a vast knowledge of the industry as well as it being their passion.

    Skills and experience

    The successful applicant will have to meet the following criteria:

    • Have a minimum of 2 years hospitality managerial experience in a high quality venue
    • Hold a current Managers Certificate
    • Exemplary customer service skills
    • A personable managerial style with strong people skills
    • Strong food cocktail and wine knowledge
    • Cash up knowledge
    • Have the experience and maturity to deal with late night party situations.
    • Be able to make fast paced decisions to ensure the safety of all patrons and staff.
    • Available to work days and nights both during the week and weekends.
    • Be self motivated and hungry to succeed with a positive attitude.
    • Impeccable personal presentation
    • A strong command of the English language both verbal and written.
